Is it more stable if you use the VST version of Nexus? I'm new to the Mac side of things but the log looks like your using the AU version. Nothing wrong with that of course, just trying to rule out a compatibility issue between VST and AU versions.

Do you have SWS installed is that up to date?

Lion and 4.151 have been super stable for me. I finished writing a track yesterday which has Omnisphere, Trilian, Stylus RMX, Camel Alchemy, Predator, T-Racks, the Glue and Valhalla room on it and clocks in at 5.2gig of Ram usage and it's rock solid.

That's not meant as a boast more to say there has to be something up with a plugin of config issue at your end. Lets see if we can track it down.

Thats great info Philait, yes i think the AU version comes up first so have been using that - are they all more stable in VST form?

I have seen plenty of crash threads on here in the last two versions of Reaper, something which I thought I'd never see as its so stable usually, but it worries me that its flakey.

I open Nexus in Ableton live and no problems..

Thanks for your help though

To Be honest I don't know for Sure but I do have 1 Plugin, Mix Control Pro that hard Crashes Reaper when the AU is opened but doesn't with VST. The Crash report looks like something to do with the GUI drawing, the VST is solid. I've reported it to Team DNR but no update yet. I'm not concerned though as I just use VST. As an EX Windows user VST is just what I reach for by default.

Thanks Philait,

Is there a way for when I create a track with "Insert Virtual Instrument on track" that the list comes up with my VSTi's first?

I think the AU's are displayed first and so I automatically pick them!

This is the same crash pattern as you were seeing with the AU version of Nexus in 4.151... so yeah, it appears to be an issue with the AU of Nexus and REAPER. There's not much we can really do, perhaps you can email the developer of it to see if they can help/fix? If there's something we can do to prevent it from crashing, we'd be happy to hear it from them...

To Be Honest I don't use that method. I have track Templates for all of my VSTi (As most are complex multi 8 or 16 in\out) and all of my FX and VSTi are sorted into User Folders for Synths, Samplers, Drum's Mod Fx, Compressors, EQ's etc. Saves me Hunting about. I'm generally a disorganised chap but Spending the time to sort through this and make templates and folders has been so worthwhile I can't contemplate not having it. It's now the first thing I do when I purchase a new instrument!

I think a user option for Insert new Instrument Root folder would be a Nice Idea though.

PS Please feel free to call me Phil

Thank you Justin,

Always good to hear from you, and yes it seems to be the AU version.

So could I get my "instrument list" to start with the VSTi versions?

Having said that, its only been in the last couple of versions that Reaper crashed with the AU Nexus as it always worked fine before, but hey,, if its tracked the problem then fine..

While I have your attention on the OS X platform, the MIDI start of the bar bug is still there (hold a chord on first beat of recorded bar in MIDI and its silent or stunted until you record the next part)??

And secondly how close are we to this :

UPDATE: Nexus 1 VSTi is now crashing Reaper Immediately also.

I think this maybe down to the plug in itself?
