How to get rid/toggle arpeggiate mouse modifier?

Hi all.

I turned on the arpeggiate action in MIDI editor while scoring for harp; a shortcut was also assigned to that (ctrl+\)
Now the action status is always on and forbid me moving midi events up or down, left or right along the grid.
How can I get rid of it, or even toggle between arpeggiate and move notes?

Also, is there a way to "draw" an "arc" for velocity value — eg. starting with low, to higher in the middle then low again at the end of a phrase?

It's not a direct (on/off) toggle action, but is toggled (back to off) when a different associated action is triggered. You'll get a list of associated actions if you filter in the Action List for "MIDI note left drag".
To switch back to the default setting use Set default mouse modifier action for "MIDI note left drag" to "Move note" (factory default)


Here are three possible ways to switch between the two actions:


Using two different shortcuts

- one to toggle on 'arpeggiate'
- and one to toggle on 'move notes'.

Default action: Move Note
Ctrl: Stretch notes (arpeggiate/chordize)

1) Making a Cycle action (with arpeggiate / step / move note) using the Reaper SWS Extensions.

2) After hitting [Apply] in the Cycle Action Editor assign a shortcut to this Cycle Action in the Action List Section: Main
3) Then assign the exact same shortcut (you used in step 2) to the action Misc: Pass through key to main window in Section: MIDI Editor in order to pass the shortcut through from the MIDI editor window


As a side note: you can add as many shortcuts to "Misc: Pass through key to main window" as necessary (in case you need to pass through multiple different shortcuts).

You can also try holding CTRL while doing an arc with the mouse (which is by default "Draw/edit CC events ignoring selection").

Or have a look at the Mouse Modifiers for [MIDI CC lane] [left drag] in general.

Arch events with sine, linear or power curve
This script arches the selected events towards the mouse. The shape of the arch can be changed using the mousewheel.
* Useful for when you want to tweak an existing, complex CC or velocity curve up or down, so that you do not need to re-draw the curve.
* Useful for quickly applying and auditioning crescendo-decrescendo (fade-in and fade-out) curves.

This script can be easily installed via the ReaPack extension, which compiles hundreds of nifty scripts from many different authors. The Arch script will then be found in the Actions list of the MIDI editor. More details are in the thread that I linked to in the previous post, or in the script's header (which can be viewed in REAPER's script editor, or in ReaPack's browser.)

If you haven't done so already, also install the SWS extension.
