Move track into track folder in Mixer Panel and Track Manager

Hi!

In the track panel, dragging a track onto another track makes the dragged-onto track a folder. In the mixer and track manager this does not seem to work. Am I doing to wrong or something?

Yeah at this point, this behavior is not backed into the mixer, track manager.

you can use some Actions to do so.

the one that i have been using is "Script: Lokasenna_Create folder to contain selected tracks.lua".

Thanks, but this is handy when creating a new folder for selected tracks.

I have a template with some tracks set up (drums, guitars, vocals etc) and want to drag tracks into them to turn them into folders. This works in the track panel but apparently not in the track manager panel and mixer.

do you mostly work in the track manager, mixer?

if yes, then I would say that you have get used to it. The best possible way to make folders in mixer or track manager is by ReaScript. Find some and make them a part of your daily workflow.

Or if you want to go a little beyond that, I think i have an idea where everytime you name a track a certain name lets say "guitar lead", ReaScript will automatically look at the name and say uhh, this track is named "guitar lead", let's make a folder that has the "guitar lead" track and also the "guitar" track that was already there in the template as the parent of the folder. and so on for "drums" and "vocals" tracks

When I mix, it's the mixer panel I'm usually in. I rarely change faders/panning/FX from the track panel.

It's at the start of a mixing project that would want to use the Track Manger for dragging tracks to the "folder tracks", as it is so zoomed out, it's just a list.

In the meantime I found a workaround though. It's a bit hacky: If my template already has a track inside each folder (so a nameless track parented to "drums", another to "vocals" etc) then it's possible to drag new tracks that are outside the folder tracks inside the folder tracks from the Track Manager. Still, it would be nice if the drag and drop behaviour of the drag panel is consistent in the Track Manager and Mixer panel. Better user experience, more user friendly.
