Default Help: how to disable note colors in notation editor?

I am just learning to use the notation editor. As shown in the attached image, the notes show the red or colored info on velocity. What if I do not want any extra color, what if I just want to have plain notation, how do I disable that red coloring?

Additionally is there a way to limit the number of empty bars in the notation editor to a smaller number like just 8 bars if only 1-8 bars of music are recorded?

color - look at the bottom of the notation window, there is a "color" dropdown. You can set by what the color will be assigned. I use "channel".

empty bars - you cannot limit how many bars are displayed in the notation editor. You can shorten the media item containing those notes and it will produce a double bar line where the item starts and ends. You can zoom in and zoom out the view, each axis independently-ish (it is a little bit broken IMO https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?p=2020848 )

Doh I feel stupid. All I had to do was click on one of the notes with the colored bars and the colors went away

I hope that gets improved in Reaper 6, we really should be able to limit the total number of bars in the notation editor, or limit the bars to those recorded or selected, etc. At least by exporting to XML, the notated score can be further edited and cleaned up in MuseScore, Sibelius, Finale, etc.
