Default Record not working

Hi, I'm not a newbie, but it's a newbie question...

I used to run Reaper on Mac OS Mavericks, but I recently upgraded to Mac OS Mojave (10.14.3). I also upgraded Reaper and am using the correct 64bit version. Since then, I haven't been able to get Reaper to record. I've checked the manual in the troubleshooting section, and none of the suggestions worked.

I've tried with my internal laptop mic and using a Zoom H4 as an audio interface. I choose monitor input, the track is armed, the inputs are chosen. But nothing. There is no signal recorded.

I've already used Reaper extensively to record audio, and I've even used it in class successfully to teach audio. I have a suspicion that it has something to do with my upgrade...

Any ideas?
