Default Virtual Time manipulation automation

Have a master post fader automation lane that allows one to remove or insert time(mainly remove) pre or post fx.

e.g., suppose you have a song with too long of a break in it. Instead of having to manipulate everything after in the project that generally is irreversible(except for temporary undo), you simply adjust the parameter and signal where you want to remove the chunk of audio after everything is rendered.

The Automation could allow the values -1, -0.5, 0.5, 1. The negative numbers delete(e.g., a negative square pulse of 3 seconds would cut 3 seconds of audio). Having a value of -0.5 of length 1 second would cross fade the cut audio 1 second. (this allows one to get smoother transitions)

I know some will say just to edit the rendered file itself using reapers capabilities on items and tracks. The problem with this, is it requires messing with additional project and re-doing every render.

Another possibility is to have "dummy automation lanes(I guess one could set this up on a dummy track) and use scripts to deal with the problem. A bit back-doorish.
