Default "Audio device closed" (it's a problem)

(Second time writing this. Forgot to submit it. Darn)

OK.

Saffire 6 usb. Shows up in all the right places.

BUT:

Reaper can't/won't open it.

tried everything, read the manual, the forums etc.

The only thing that looks odd is the "apply" button in
Audio-Device is greyed out.

I can't find hardware for master track output etc...

If I take the saffire 6 and plug it into my laptop it's OK.
same Reaper ver 4.25
same drivers.

have reinstalled EVERYTHING. no joy. No music. no happy time.

Help!!!!!

This is driving my crazy.

Default "Closed audio device" FIXED

Well I'll be damned.

Reaper would not open my focusrite saffire 6 usb audio interface.

I tried EVERYTHING.

Reinstal XP
Reinstall Reaper
Reinstall Drivers.

Comb through forums, webpages, etc etc.

I spent all day today working on this %&*$@!!!!

with no results.

So I posted up a plea for HELP!

Well I guess you have to help yourself sometimes...

so there I was pulling my F****** hair out trying to sort shit out, when out of the blue I fumble the mouse and click on the time on the TASKBAR
and wow, look at the date, it's 2080. Oh, that's a bit out. Let me fix that...

and then BINGO. the Audio device is OPEN!!! O P E N !!!!

W T F ????

Still not convinced?

There, I just did it. I went from 2065 with no sound to 2013 with sound.

Right then.

So, if you have this problem, check the system clock!!!

I'm going to bounce this to focusrite.

RobForrester, I feel like I have to apologise to you.

I have had this problem once but not with Reaper or devices as it was on my non audio pc. It showed up with a very strange, nonsensical error message saying this or that program, including firefox, had out of date certificates and just would not let me proceed.

Like you I stumbled over the pc date and time and it was, like yours, way into the future.

The worry then was why it happened at all.
Searches suggested malaware/trojan or CMOS battery but it only happened once for me.

Default oh, I know why...

I had a problem with a USB driver which failed to show up.

It turned out that the mobo was missing a front usb panel which tells the mobo it's got an "enhanced usb port" . The hack is to tie two pins together.
Problem solved and no F1 at boot.

In the process I had reset the system clock.

Why it went to 2080 I have nooooooo idea.

But then, why reaper would respond like that to the date???

It seems quite odd.

Any ideas anybody?

Rob.

Default audio device trouble

All,

I have had an issue for about 24 hours. My audio sounds as if it has a tape flutter or is underwater. That would be cool if I was going for that effect, I'd call it the Ringo, but I'm not. It corrected itself for a while, then came back. I was increasing buffer sizes and reducing voices when it cleared. I was asking much less from my equipment when it came back. This is all audio from my computer. I've gone through every setting I can find. Checked the USB ports, sound settings, ran a Windows troubleshooter, optimized my computer for recording, I'm about out of ideas.

Any thing I haven't tried?

Default hmmm...

Did you check your system date/time?

And underwater effect may be a good move. Was it salt of freshwater?

I think nirvana used it to good effect on one of their albums....

My flatmates use the water effect too, with some other stuff as well...

Well I am all out of ideas.

Hope you fix your problem soon! It sucks when you have to track down a demon in your computer!

Rob!
