Default Why do audio files suddenly go offline? (SOLVED)

The audio file (wav or mp3) shows up as offline unexpectedly. Not sure if this happens only when the focus shifts from the track to elsewhere or randomly... Is this a bug or a feature planned with some deep insight that I'm missing? (4.14)

Has nobody else experienced this? There is an option to select all media online via item->media but the audio files still insist on going offline at random. On inspecting the drop down item->media->select all media online, turns out that the checkbox is gone.

Anybody...?

Are you SURE it's random? Clicking on ANYTHING outside
of Reaper when the file isn't playing will take the audio
files offline. Even clicking "start" or a single click
anywhere outside Reaper will do this. Some keystrokes will
do it to - like hitting the "windows" button.

It's annoying but I live with it...

The audio sometimes seems to go offline even while clicking within reaper to check some drop down menu item or tinkering with a VST in the fx button. At some other times, it doesn't go offline. Can always observe this further in case there is really a pattern- but the devs could have a more purposeful look and provide clarity what's happening. The behavior is definitely annoying and IMHO should be fixed.

Why? There is a preference to turn it off. Prefs > Media > Set Media Items Offline when Applications is not active.

Uncheck. Done.

Thanks, that really helped. I do recall searching prefs->media and not finding this particular option. Goes to show what a lousy job I did of scanning the options!
