Default Reduce treble on song?

How do I reduce high pitch sounds, like too much SSSS, on a song track? Shall I use Limiter or Compressor? And do I use these things properly?

Im currently reading the manual, but itsnot always easy to find what ur looking for there.

A multiband compressor is what you're looking for, but a de-esser would probably be even better. If you type "ess" into the FX Browser, I think there's one or two included with Reaper. Otherwise, my first suggestion would be Spitfish, from the free DigitalFishPhones back.

I'm just learning Reaper, but I have been recording analog for years. Don't know how different ITB vs OTB compression is ( not yet..LoL), but IME, adding compression on a noisy track will actually make it( sssss) louder. The de'esser will probably work better as mentioned..Notch filter/parametric EQ also...Good luck!

I am certainly not an expert, but I suggest that you do a little reading on expanders.

Reaper comes with a couple written by SStillwell , and there is one by LOSER. Look for Antress' ModernExpander online, too.
