Default help with yabridge

I'm having trouble getting yaybridge/wine working fully.

it mostly works except i can't seem to make a linked folder using this command

ln -s /home/marcus/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Steinberg ~/.vst/yabridge-steinberg

it makes a file called yaybridge-steinberg but NOT a folder and when i check the link it says error no link.

what am I doing wrong?

I basically need to make a symbolic linked folder in my .vst folder to the wine c: program files /steinberg folder.

this was I can drop .dll files into the .vst/yaybridge-steinberg/vstplugins folder to use if I don't have an installer.

Personally, I never use linked files or folders and always give programs like REAPER or Yabridge the full explicit path, and if there are spaces anywhere, enclose it all with quotes.

Maybe Robbert, the developer of Yabridge might see this and respond, but I would try giving it all the full real path and see what it does.

You can also add /home/marcus/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Steinberg as a VST path to REAPER and drop your VSTs without an installer there.

That's the recommended approach.

I tried that and it didn't seem to work.

that would seem to make more sense/be simpler.

@Glenn, thanks for the quotes thing I was getting into a muddle with the spaces thing and not really understanding why things were throwing up errors...I'm a newwbie to Linux

Try to use the full path like:
ln -s /home/marcus/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Steinberg /home/marcus/.vst/yabridge-steinberg

This works for me.

so use exactly what you've typed instead of:

ln -s /home/marcus/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Steinberg ~/.vst/yabridge-steinberg

no ~ or space?

I shall try. thanks
