Default What do you have in your Main Toolbar?

If this has already been discussed ad nauseam please just point me there, but I don't see any topics about this and am trying to customize, but new to Reaper so I don't really know what my options are yet.

So far I like:

Project settings
Toggle FX bypass on all tracks
Show all envelopes for all tracks
Hide all envelopes for all tracks
Toggle master track visible
Toggle metronome enabled
Freeze to stereo
Unfreeze tracks
Snap enabled
Grid lines enabled

I added a < GO TO MARKER 01 > button a few weeks ago and my reaper experience has greatly improved - this little bugger is a custom <rewind> to get me exactly at the starting point of the song - which is not time=0 but approx 10sec from zero. The <mono> button is also pretty useful for me.

Deciding what to include was pretty easy. The 3rd or 4th time I find myself driving thru menus for the same thing, I add a button for it.

Customizing context menus is also a good way to smooth out the flow.

This is a little video that shows most of my main toolbars, both in the main view and the midi editor. I've actually got all 16 toolbars pretty much filled in the arrange area and all 8 of the toolbars in the midi editor.

This is my rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" that I arranged and recorded for my wife singing. Throughout the video it shows my main toolbars, both in the main and the midi editor.

well Tod... [nice project btw ] ... I'd suppose that after you spend more time with reaper you will eventually get you toolbars more loaded and organized....

actually though... does that theme allow for tabs in the arrange docked TB?

I as because I used to have at the far left of mine, short cut actions to switch to any of the 16 TB's but then got with the Tabs thing which is very kewl
because you can re-title each TB so the tab is a number and a meaningful name... like: envelopes, colors, etc.

Sadly but in reaper inconsistent fashion the ME tb's don't allow for tabs, so there I still the numbers 1-8 at the far left to change TB's in ME

Hi my friend, I actually don't dock much of anything, not because it's not a good thing to do, I just never did it.

If you look on the far right of my video when I'm in the main window, you'll see I have all the toolbars covered, Toolbar-1 is on top, Toobar-2 is on the right and that's where the rest are accessible, 3 thru 16.

The midi editor is a whole other dimension, I've got it setup for my own workflow.

The thing is, my toolbars are changing all the time, depending on the projects I'm working on. Especially if I'm working on a sampling program, I'll create custom actions to make editing the samples faster and better, each project will be a little different.

That's why I love Reaper, there's not another DAW out there that can do that.

yeah to me you are famous for your clever use of toolbars... not to mention your custom icons for them to make them all fit your needs...

Ha ha, I know they're downright ugly, but they totally serve their purpose for me.

Incidentally, check you email.
