Default HELP - 32 seconds into 30 seconds w/o changing pitch?

I'm new to Reaper - but deadlining on a Television Jingle. I've completed and mixed the audio, and opened it in reaper (originally a stereo analog). It is running 32 seconds, and I need to condense (play faster) with out changing the pitch. It needs to be 30 seconds, not the current 32.

Anyway to do this?

Thanks, Joe

32/30 =1.0666666666666666666666666666667

One way:

1. Mixdown audio to 32 second 2track.
2. Import mix into a new (or same for that matter) project
3. Rick click on the 32 second item. Select Item Properties (F2)
4. Enter 1.06667 into Playback rate
5. Make sure "preserve pitch..." is checked.
6. Select the best algorithm your deadline will allow.

7. Render.

8. Drink a beer.

9. Buy cAPSLOCK a beer.

Not much of a wheat beer fan, but beggars can't be choosers.

Here is the easy way:

Import 2 track
Hold down alt and drag the right side of the item.

Much faster, if not as precise as my method above.

Oh, and for what it's worth..

I am nicotine free for 71 days.

This is a difficult thing to do. Nicotine may be one of the most addictive substances on the planet.

Nicotine, a plant evolved insecticide still used by man for that purpose is chemically similar to acetylcholine which is an important neurotransmitter in our brain. In fact the presence of so much nicotine in our blood caused our brains to change their biochemistry quite a bit and actually made them GROW lots of extra nicotinic acetylcholine receptors.

Thats why even 72 hours when all nicotine and nearly all its metabiolites are gone from our bodies we can still crave. Also this is why 4 weeks in or even 10 weeks in we can still crave.

The terrible fact of the matter is we have trained our bodies to receive more dopamine and nor epinephrine more easily that they should.

Dopamine is a pleasure brain chemical (along with lots of other things).

In a way we mortgaged our future peace of mind by using nicotine to take a loan out against it.

Now you and I are paying back that loan.

It sucks.

But we can do it. If there is any way i can help you, I will be glad to PM you my phone number. If you kicked alcohol you can likely kick this too though

I imagine you may already know all this I just typed, but it helps me all the same to say it one more time.

In the times the goober brain chemistry stuff is not enough reading about the life of Bryan Lee Curtis can help.

good luck!

Thanks very much for the information. I have not read up on the chemical side of things - very interesting. Any good links to share?

I have taken a drag here and there since I quit - only when I HAD to function, and had the spins to bad to even drive, yet alone perform - but it's amounted to a couple cigs in the 4 weeks.

The alcohol was easier from the standpoint when I quit, I could quit completely. The tobacco? Well, Playing a couple nights a week in a bar, where everyone now seems to smoke 10 times as much as they used to makes it tough. Like I go through the 24 hour withdrawals twice a week!
