Default Inkscape help

Sorry to post this here, not really theme related but you guys seem to know your graphic stuff. I have tried Inkscape's help but don't really understand.

I'm trying to prepare my CD artwork and just wanted to 'cut out' the hole in the centre of an image I'm using to print directly onto the CD.
I'm no graphic artist and not familiar with inkscape or any other graphic package for that matter, so any help in how to do this, in simple terms, would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm not sure what the current state of play is with Inkscape and CMYK, but I'll assume you've satisfied yourself that you're not going to have any printing issues with that.

Here's how you clip an image with a vector. Note sometimes in this I've shift-clicked to select multiple things. Hopefully you get the general idea!

Not sure what CMYK is though.

What I was hoping to do was to export the image into MS Publisher and print it to the CD from there?

Rather than type it in here;

There is a brief explanation of CMYK for printing color graphics as well as a handy color chart.
