Default Does PDC even matter on a reverb send?

PDC is still one of those things I wish I didn't have to think about. No matter how much I try to understand it, it still causes much confusion...

Anyway I bought a reverb plugin I really like (perfect plate XL), but it adds tremendous PDC latency (around 2000 samples). I can get around it by setting the Chain PDC Mode to ignore plugin delay, but what's the tradeoff? I'm not sure what problems this might cause me later when I forget that I've done so.

Will it cause me any *actual* problems if I leave that way forever? I'm used to the problems incorrect PDC settings have on recording tight rhythms while monitoring through Reaper, but can't see what it's doing in this context. I guess it messes with Pre-Delay times, but if I set that by ear with PDC off and it's in time, what's the difference?

I also do this with my guitar tracks when I'm improvising, so I'm curious what issues I'm causing by leaving it that way when I start recording in the project.

That's 45ms pre-delay, which is sizeable but by no means excessive.

Whether you run into problems will be down to the reverb sound you're using and the music tempo.

I wouldn't worry about it until you hear something to that worries you.

These are my least favorite kinds of problems to fix..."hmmm, why is this mixdown all fucked up? I have this vague memory of changing some obscure setting deep in a menu on one of these tracks..."

As a procrastinator, there is a tendency to waste hours solving minute problems like that. Would help to know what I could expect, if anything, so the solution presents itself in a logic way.

What problem is it causing to just leave it on?

It's like this (to my understanding):
If a plugin reports latency to Reaper, Reaper delays the other tracks the same amount the plugin causes latency so everything is still in sync.
Now if you disable PDC on the Reverb's track the plugin still needs the same processing time, but the other tracks aren't delayed anymore.
In case of a Reverb send (Reverb return bus actually) this would be the same as dialing in Pre-Delay in the Reverb (= the Reverb sounds x ms later), as mentioned above by Judders.

Does this make sense (or is what you're asking)?

Yea that's what I understood as well. So turning PDC off for the receive allows me to reduce latency of any sending tracks at the expense of delay-time accuracy (which I can compensate by ear).

I just didn't know if there were any other considerations. Now that I think about it though, wouldn't tempo-synced delays be slightly out of sync? Maybe not enough to make a difference as long as I remember to turn PDC back on when I render.
