I'm toying with the idea of doing some sort of musics, having lapsed into total non-productiveness for the past year.
Put me down for having something posted by jan 15th, and i'll try and force myself to cobble together a recording of some sort.
cheers!
Hello- so thread title is about procrastination?
Definition=procrastination
the action of delaying or postponing something.
"your first tip is to avoid procrastination"
Tip 1 is a good idea!
The idea behind the thread is in the first post.
If you suffer with procrastination, use this thread to make deadlines and try to meet them, or offer help and suggestions for those that find finishing work to be a struggle.
I failed my deadline for another 8 mixes, did absolutely none of them. So new deadline is to have the 22 mixes transferred from the mixer by Feb 12. I think I said above that they would be done and edited by Feb 12, but I think I should probably baby step that shit down a process and just be happy if I've simply transferred the jams to the PC!
Done, nauseating amount of replays when editing video ahead.
Found enough clips to fill the entire length of the track, almost done. With -18 outside it's a great day for editing. Feels like it's almost done, so the end is probably a good three days ahead.

[ ] Zero Crossing pt. 1⅞ <- you are here, deadline 1st feb 2021 (complete with some abstract vid)
Done. Not quite sequencer-y, but there's one to three arps running at once most of the time. Some ornamental guitar playing made with my new-old headless Hohner, mostly processed to crap (I like that POD farm pedal that adds whistling harmonics in unpredictable places). I also need to fiddle with my bass bridge, first string is rattling a bit too much.

I really fucking like this a lot. The bass sounds great. I can hear a little Ozrics in there too.

Really good, well done! Definitely a bit ozrics & a bit rush. nice!
If it's not too cheeky, how would you feel about swapping deadlines? You've still got a couple of weeks left on yours & i'm not gonna make mine (tmrw).
I am in a season of procrastination, which is all seasons tbh.
Still havent transferred a single jam from the mixer to the PC. In the meantime, I've created another four long term projects in my head. They sound great, they will never actually exist
In the meantime part 2, I have procrastinated into a remix of Everything Will Be OK, the track by Time Waster/The Wasters of Time that I sang on and made a video for, posted earlier in the thread.
Its nearly finished, just programming some final kick/snare/hihat action and I'm walking away from it. Hopefully, I'll be able to post the remix in a few days.
Making projects in your head is the best. Works only when away from the gear though, when you have no immediate way to discover the head-project is completely undoable. Quality commuting mental entertainment, when commuting was still a thing.

i got > high quality authentic 70's sounding yet original commercial rock music.
(i listened one time through at low level on budget cans)
i think you know your trade pretty well!
i might return to listen more but i have my own art to wrestle with at this time.
cheers!
Thanks very much Prom, your description is exactly what I was trying for and so such a review from an esteemed peer is indeed gratifying.
Especially as the production was very low budget, S-Gear and maybe another [$25] amp sim were the only commercial plugins and the room used is totally untreated.
The lead guitar [and also one of the RG's] is a hundred dollar entry level Chinese strat copy, my practice gtr, seems to get the job done okay, if Fender want they can spot me a Strat; I'll use it if it's a good one and credit them and the guitar on future projects

aye...and if the player knows how to set them up right (perhaps adjust the truss rod, tweak the intonation, even screen the electrics) they can certainly become a very useful instrument.
I would imagine you have the knowledge to do all the necessary adjusting.

Yep, the exception being my electrics know how to a degree, but thankfully this gtr is not very noisy and doesn't have the dysfunctional pickup switch and or vol/tone pots typical of many cheap gtrs.
It plays well, has an easy action. I decided a while back that the sound is well enough useable, it's been reported that the guy in Wolfmother made their first album with the same type of gtr. Though he trash talked it [without naming it] later on when he got endorsement deals.

Well, i did manage to knock something together, despite a computer dying on me & various other excuses.
I haven't bothered posting it anywhere yet, but i will get around to it at some stage

And on that note, I should use the thread for another deadline.
I have a remix of Everything Will Be OK that is inches away from being 'finished', I want it done by the end of the week.
I also want a jam done by the end of the week that starts my Twin Peaks project off. Im two weeks behind as it is. On Friday, I'll be three weeks behind.
As Zeekat mentioned, potential projects are great when its on a train and there is no way to actually do anything but im sat here in front of all my kit every day, ready to go and doing nothing
ARRGHGHG!
So, by Friday 5th, ONE Twin Peaks jam done. By Sunday 7th, midnight, I want this 'OK' remix done. Production wise, the OK remix is done, its just literally adding in kick/snare/hihats that I have left to do, in maybe a quarter of the track.

First one was posted *checks notes* Apr 4, so lets assume I'll wrap this one up with an anniversary. Surely will be my opus magnum, 6 youtube likes, easily.

I think some sort of celebration will be in order.
