This is a symptom of 'stateless' actions in Reaper. Any button with a light that is defined as an action which doesn't have an on/off recognised by Reaper will stay on permanently and it's totally frustrating!

Something which you could try, if you have SWS Extensions installed, is creating a cycle action with If/Then/Else statements relating to the solo state of the channels and tie that to the solo button.

I'm looking to do the same thing but work has been crazy the last week or so so haven't had a chance to try and catch up with the thread never mind set up any are actions.

If I get anywhere at any point I'll let you know.

Cragster...why do you have 2 pages setup? Put both surfaces on the same page then get back to us. I'm betting that's the root cause of why you're getting "one or the other" working. Because only one page is active at a time and you've got each surface on one page.

[I'm trying to go back to being helpful after derailing the thread with my MCU blunder. ]

Pages are for creating multiple CSI setups you can quickly toggle between. When one page is active, the other pages are inactive.

To start, put all your surfaces on one page, use your standard .mst and .zon files. Now they act as one big eco-system. Like you have a giant surface. Let's call this page "Home." I have 4 surfaces currently in my Home page.

But lets say you want to use a different .zon file for one of your surfaces when you're editing. You want the 3 other surfaces to be the same, but you want one surface remapped to Reaper editing functions. You could create a second .zon folder for your surface (give it a folder name like "MFTwisterEditPage"), and in that new .zon file and folder, remap all your widgets to editing functions. But you need to be able to flip between the Edit .zon file and the regular .zon. How do you do that?

So to make it all work together: you create a second page in CSI. Let's call this page "Edit." You add all your surfaces to this new Edit page, but this time you use your new "MFTwisterEditPage" (whatever you called it) .zon folder instead of your standard .zon. Then you just need a widget+action to flip between "Home" and "Mix" and it's like you've doubled the number of surfaces you have. The switching is instantaneous.

In your case though, you don't want a second page (at least not yet). You just want all your surfaces on the same page, acting as one big happy family.

Ohhhhhh ok . Thanks thanks thanks !!!! I did know about the pages. I actually do have a 2nd page for editing actions that i gopage between. I just didnt know i could have multiple surfaces on the same page. Im sure thats my problem. What i did was make a page for that new surface and called it FX. Abd then i thought thats what that sync pages check box was for. I was way off lol thanks. Ill try your instructions and let u know. BTW what are those "sync pages" check boxes for ?? Thank you very much. Thank you too MIXMONKEY

Hopefully that solves it. Get everything on the one page, try it out, and let us know if you still run into issues. If so, post your CSI contents and we'll troubleshoot from there.

Haven't heard about EuCon in a while, is everything stable and acting generally pleasant, aside from that weird automation thing and the intermittent non-zero on close thing ?

Say you had an edit workflow page and an FX processing workflow page.

You might want to keep the banking in synch on both pages, so that when you switched from edit to FX processing you end up at the same place, banking wise.

You're gonna regret asking. Hadn't turned the old Eucon on since checking out pans, and that was just before bedtime a few days ago. Checked them out. Went to sleep. Haven't mix a thing since.

Just tried now: big problem with TrackVolume. The Reaper fader barely moves.

1. Open Reaper
2. Load a project

Result: faders all jump to correct positions

3. Move Artist Mix fader

Result: the Reaper volume fader will only move in a range between +1db and 0.00db. The Artist Mix can be set to -80.25 db and the actual fader in Reaper will only go so low as unity.

Thanks, confirmed, probably related to the value stuff we have been messing with, don't worry, will fix as part of this phase

[edit] Ah, got it, Actions default to a range of 0.0-1.0, which is perfect for FX, not so good for db based where -144-24.0 is more like it, will override the defaults in db based Actions

I breathe a huge sigh of relief on the rare occasions you get the same Eucon issues I do.

As in what CSI says or the midi message?

In CSI Edit it just says 'Solo'

In MidiOx it says:

90 5A 7F 1 F# 6 Note On
90 5A 7F 1 F# 6 Note Off

Hey Geoff, I have been away from the studio for the last few days, but EuCon was happy last time I was using it. Will report in when I return.

Yes, the only remaining issue was that dangerous automation touch behaviour.

Yes, the only remaining issue was that dangerous automation touch behaviour.

It's broken right now everywhere but here, just fixed it, so next build should be fine

Added new Action -- ClearAllSolo, this should set the light properly

Code:
Zone "Buttons|"
	BankLeft 	TrackBank "-8"
	BankRight 	TrackBank "8"
        Solo            ClearAllSolo
	Rewind 		Rewind
	FastForward	FastForward
ZoneEnd

Amazing, thanks Geoff. I'll try that tomorrow.

As I've started getting in to editing .zons etc am I right in thinking that I only have to update the .dll in the plugins folder to update?

That's generally true, but keep a close eye, every so often we break things, we warn you, but we still break 'em every now and then, it's still beta

Yes, I'm working on stepped as we speak, best not to tread around in there right now, as you have found

Wow just noticed the first post was more than 3 years ago. That is serious commitment, guys. Admirable.
Does the project has a tentative timing to go beta?

I didn't know about this CSI, very cool. I'm going to have to try it.

I have an old peavey pc1600x...basically a midi device with a bunch of faders and buttons. I wonder if this can work with that. I saw in the tutorial video how the programmer was using midi-ox to get the info from the device and program the stuff on this plugin. So i figure that should work still with the pc1600x.

CSI will work with just about any MIDI, MCU, OSC or Eucon device. Shouldn't be any problem using it with your Peavey as long as it's not sending out any propriety messages.

Hi Geoff,

I've tried the various last versions, and waited a bit before coming back to you.

I've had some strange behaviour with my Artist Control for the track list on the surface main display. When opening a project, only the 4 first Reaper tracks are displayed and, most of the time) the surface does not follow track selection but, if I then go to the preferences and edit the Eucon in the "Surfaces" panel and click apply (even if I do not change anything), then everything goes back to normal.

I take this opportunity for a couple of questions :

Number one is : how can I help ? Is there a .zon file I could edit to try and implement the commands that are triggered by the buttons just below thr main screen ? For the moment I only added the "Save" function from the Eucon software settings, as it is the one I need most, but I wonder whether this has to be done within Eucon App or if there's a way to assign them to Reaper functions directly from a zone file. I tried adding another .zon and I noticed that it was indeed loaded, in alphabetical order apparently, but gor an error message for a double declaration of the Home zone...

Number two is about the number of channels in CSI/Eucon surface prefs. Does this setting has to be there as it obviously depends on the project, so it needs to be dynamically changed when adding/deleting tracks. I understand that the higher the value, the more computer resources it takes, but, in my case, most projects I work on are 100+ tracks, so...

Last, is more of a secondary thing. Do you think it would be possible to have the automation lanes assigned to faders ? In the midi implementation, the "sends" button allowed to have the sends levels on faders which is normally only possible on Avid's Artist Mix (which has a flip button) but not with the Artist Control, and I really loved to have that functionality. Hence my question.

I hope this finds you and yours well, thanks again for the amazing work you do :-)

Default Noob guidance please?

I've been messing about for a while now but not making much headway but have cleared a few gremlins/fups on my part.

I'm on latest Reaper and latest beta build as of the date of this message. I'm trying to set up an X Touch Mini and am using the stock files in the zip.

With all loaded and the CSI Edit action up with Monitor In on Reasconsole window, I can see the XTM communicating, moreso, the actions defined in the zone file perform correctly with the Reaper project; e.g. master fader moves, load a track and 1st rotary adjusts the track volume. All good.

So, the issue appears to be: If I click on Monitor Out, I get a constant stream of data, processor count jumps to 20% +. The data stream consists of:

Code:
IN <- X Touch Mini LayerA_UpperButton1 1.000000
IN <- X Touch Mini 8a  08  00
Channel1->TrackVolume---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_Rotary1  ba  01  5f
Channel2->TrackVolume---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_Rotary2  ba  02  61
Channel3->TrackVolume---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_Rotary3  ba  03  00
Channel4->TrackVolume---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_Rotary4  ba  04  00
Channel5->TrackVolume---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_Rotary5  ba  05  00
Channel6->TrackVolume---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_Rotary6  ba  06  00
Channel7->TrackVolume---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_Rotary7  ba  07  00
Channel8->TrackVolume---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_Rotary8  ba  08  00
Channel1->TrackMute---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_UpperButton1  9a  08  7f
Channel2->TrackMute---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_UpperButton2  8a  09  00
Channel3->TrackMute---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_UpperButton3  8a  0a  00
Channel4->TrackMute---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_UpperButton4  8a  0b  00
Channel5->TrackMute---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_UpperButton5  8a  0c  00
Channel6->TrackMute---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_UpperButton6  8a  0d  00
Channel7->TrackMute---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_UpperButton7  8a  0e  00
Channel8->TrackMute---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_UpperButton8  8a  0f  00
LayerA_Buttons|->Reaper---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_LowerButton3  9a  12  7f
LayerA_Buttons|->Reaper---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_LowerButton4  9a  13  7f
LayerA_Buttons|->CycleTimeline---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_LowerButton5  9a  14  7f
LayerA_Buttons|->Stop---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_LowerButton6  9a  15  7f
LayerA_Buttons|->Play---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_LowerButton7  8a  16  00
LayerA_Buttons|->Record---->X Touch Mini->LayerA_LowerButton8  8a  17  00
Channel1->TrackPan---->X Touch Mini->LayerB_Rotary1  ba  0b  3f
Channel2->TrackPan---->X Touch Mini->LayerB_Rotary2  ba  0c  3f
Channel3->TrackPan---->X Touch Mini->LayerB_Rotary3  ba  0d  00
Channel4->TrackPan---->X Touch Mini->LayerB_Rotary4  ba  0e  00
as an example. This cycles through all the elements, again and again.

Grateful for some guidance please?
Grateful if someone could share a known working XTM .mst and .zon files please should they be different from the stock?
Additionally, if I add ReaComp to my blank track 1 and touch the slider e.g. Thresh and e.g. layerA_UpperRotary2 so they both appear in the "Adjust Surface Control" and "Adjust Focused FX Param" windows, my assumption would be that control should then control the param but it doesn't do anything [other than report in the mon in window]. There's a zon file for ReaComp in the stock Zones dir

Apologies for the dumb cluck Q's. Cheers
