Any free multi layer drum sampler?
Are there any free multi layer drum samplers that would work well with Reaper? I'm coming up with nothing apart from Sitala which is fantastic but can do only one sample per key.
Than I had Shortcircuit that does multi but never worked too well for me.
I'd look at payed ones as well but I don't need anything complicated, something like Citala would be perfect.

Hi,
I have been searching this for many years, as I really need a simple multi layer drum sampler. I found Poise, not free, quite nice, easy to use, but with some stability problems, and I also discovered that it was applying a lopass on all samples, losing a bit of high end....
So then I found... the nice Mpl R5K manager scripts... no totally perfect, no as simple/straightforward as Poise, but damn good, and native. What I like is that it is just an extra layer to help you use Reasamplomatic, but basically, you are just using Reasamplomatic.
I now 100% rely on it for all my hip hop drums. No crashes, no extra CPU consumption, free... I love it!

TX16Wx works well, it's more like short-circuit.
The free version does everything I need except round robin but
If you have enough velocity layers it's fine.

i agree with winbe, rs5k is a great oneshot sampler with just a couple of shortcomings that are mostly addressed by MPL sample manager + his additional incremental scripts. i've been using rs5k in commercial projects for five years.
i wish cockos would consider open sourcing it, though, so that the community could make spinoff versions.

Seems that there isn't many to choose from. That's interesting. I'll try the ones suggested here and see how it goes, thanks.

Ive attached a patch for TX16Wx for the Analogue Drums Big Mono kit, you'll need to get the free Big Mono samples from Analogue Drums ( if you don't have them )
TX16Wx will want you to steer it to the samples the first time you load the patch.
I thought this might be a quick way to check out TX16Wx and see if it will work for you, without having to build a kit yourself from scratch first up
Cheers

Mmh ... almost every Sampler can do "multi layer drums". So you have a
great diversity to choose from. TX16Wx might be one of the best
choices.

Thanks for that! I got the samples but this will probably help a lot setting it up. Only problem is that I'm not able to download the TX16Wx. The page doesn't work for some reason. Maybe it'll come back in few days.

Not a drum sampler, but do a search in the reaper forum
for smmdrums...very good layered natural drums.
It's available in several formats some more detailed than others.

Yes from their site. It won't download. The crazy thing is that the smmdrums won't download either. I even tried to use VPN and disabled Adblock but that didn't help but at least I know the problem is not at my end.

SMDrums is probably the best deeply sampled acoustic kit you can find for Reaper. Have you tried the Sforzando version? It may download much better for you. If not, I'm happy to share mine.

I,m more than happy using TX16Wx for drum samples, i think its very good.
I also have kontakt and a virtual truck load of drum vsti so i'm pretty well set for drums.
I'm just wondering if Tubeguy found a sampler that works for him.
Cheers
