Awesome! Can't wait to try it.

BTW - when you were first trying out the coloured faders you might remember I mentioned colouring the mixer FX parameter controls on the new coloured fader layouts to match the faders, which is something I like to do for quick distinction between track types (which is what I use these alternate fader colour layouts for). I've just tried it on smooth and I like it. It's probably a bit garish for your taste but if you're curious how it looks, then here it is -

I've literally just thrown these together - ideally they should be colour matched to the faders more closely, maybe with the same vertical colour gradient too... just wanted to see how it looked and I liked it.

I always use this to force the fader:
set mcp.volume.fadermode [0]

and yes, you will need to downsize the fader.

The layout doesn't really allow space for a fader until it reaches a certain height, so you will need to to use a height statement to switch between the knob and fader and their respective locations

It's surely my config or something, but for some reason this theme looks completely wrong on my pc..

It's as if none of the images worked, so it all becomes a strangely aligned version of 6..

Any ideas?

From the SKD WALTER documentation,

Quote:
mcp.volume.fadermode:
Volume fader: fader vs knob mode
First coordinate: -1 to prevent knob, 1 to force knob, 0 for default
So I took this to mean, if you wanted to absolutely force a fader, regardless of element layout, then you set fadermode to [-1]

The documentation doesn't actually describe, for any of the TCP or MCP sections, what the "default" is.

That is why, in my code, I opted for [-1]

However, I have just tried [0] and that works too, so, perhaps using a fader is the default.

Default Does it have Separators?

Great looking theme...I am not sure if anyone has asked this question.
And I havent looked fully at the all the images and details yet...
But does it have separators???
One of the main reasons I feel separators are so important is because you can lay out both the Mixer and Track Panel clearly in groups, especially if you are using a fair amount of VST, even coloring the mixer does not work as well IMHO.
The reason I have stuck with Commala 5 is because of this facility, plus different sized and styling of the mixer panel...which is extremely useful to define sub masters, and child tracks etc...makes life a lot easier when the mix gets more populated.
It does look nice tho...I really hope it has some of these features.
Cheers

Can increasing the width of the narrow MCP layout help? Or does the whole thing need tweaking?

This is a HiDPI/Retina only theme atm, it won't work on standard res. If you are HiDPI, check out Odys' inception post below yours :¬)

Hiya b0se

There is a bit of a pattern here... This topic is now so large that not only is it difficult for new people to this find information that they are looking for, it must sometimes be difficult for you to remember where stuff was mentioned.

Might be worth adding a FAQ section in the original post based on all the most common questions asked here and then when someone new pops in asking something that has been asked before many times, all you have to do is refer them to that FAQ section in the original post.

Yeah... I know... You're busy enough as it is!

That's a good idea. I'd rather start on the 1080p version first though.

On that note: anyone waiting for 1080p version willing to help out with a FAQ?

Same as the muted TCP background then! Never mind, not too bad and it's rare I mute the master :¬)

Yeah, that is probably the the correct method to force the fader always regardless of size.
I think using zero allows you to auto-switch to knob depending on the current size.

Increasing the width would be pointless, I think.
In order to get enough room for the fader, you will end up with close to the same size as the 'A' layout.
I would use the height statement to switch to the fader once there's enough room uder the Mute/Solo/Route buttons.
I think that would need the least amount of coding as well.

I never mute or solo the master track, but that's because I don't use any separate monitor mixes. So it would be "controversial" to remove the Mute and Solo buttons as I have done with my theme.

And I agree with +NRG that it cannot be done and must be hard coded into REAPER.

This could be easily done without extra coding as long as his knob stack is just the rotating circle that sits on top of a static knob image.
IOW, the knob stack PNG sits on top of the normal knob PNG.

- make copies of the knob stacks
- colorize them
- drop them into the folder with the matching fader color.

If his knob stacks are self contained, it will require new knob stacks for each color.

That's exactly what I did... that pic wasn't a mock up when I said I just threw it together I meant I hadn't aligned the colours very carefully

Not sure how this escaped me, the MCP sends when muted now match the FX list:

For some reason, I can't seem to get the TCP to show the "vertical bar and triangle" of colour like your post #974. Mostly I just see a tiny triangle (like in collapsed mode) but no bar.

What do I need to set? I like the "bar and triangle" look :-)

Thanks
Andy

Not sure, it should be fixed (right aligned).

Can you post a screenshot?

Try resizing the width of the TCP.

Ah, that's your TCP meter size. Go to the first post of this thread, you'll find screenshots of my recommended Theme Adjuster settings to get it looking like my setup :¬)

I think 4px TCP meters will be too small for those on 4K Retina, so I've tweaked the triangle end cap of 6B. It's now deeper so it works perfectly with 10px meters:

If you're a collapsed TCP fan (looking at you Evil D ) the 4px meter mode will give you even bigger colour triangles.

So 10px meters will be the alternative (full size) TCP recommended size from now on. 4px for collapsed. I'll get this tweak upload later today.

Got it thanks. FYI, in the first post, the screenshots of the Theme Adjuster settings say "Default_6.0 Theme Adjuster" in the menu bar, where I presume it should be the "Smooth 6A / 6B Theme Adjuster that we use?

And yes, the meters are too small at 4px! Thanks

I agree, I'll male 10px the default all round from now on. Screenshots will be updated to the final versions at some point, don't have the time atm.

Theme Adjuster title has been fixed since 1.5.

6A is the one to use to have complete control over the layout, it works with all of it.

6B has a couple of restrictions; TCP meter width and position.

Tweaked the same peak value for TCP meters (and also updated the master mono/stereo button)...

Does anyone know where to edit that grey text? I can't find it!

Hole. E. Shhhhhhh

(let's keep it clean folks)

But wow what a gorgeous theme! Hats off and well done and all the yes.

These questions are less about your theme and more about Reaper but I feel its pertinent here and there are some really knowledgeable people involved in the thread.

Text Toolbar icons/icons in general: I use them a fair bit. However taking my Windows scaling down to 100% for this theme make them super tiny and pointless.

Any combination I've tried between windows scaling/reapers internal UI scaling either make the theme not look as intended or makes the toolbar icons too small. Do you guys here use toolbars? Has there been any talk about increasing the size of these from the reaper folks? (I know there's a long standing feature request and I know I should beta test but I don't currently)

From what I recall, I had the same problem with the text on the ruler. But that maybe my imagination. Anyways, does anyone echo my sentiments or have advice?

Right now my solution to this is trying to put everything I use into radial menu and do away with the toolbars. p.s. sorry for rambling and not providing a screenshot!

Thanks Lucas. These are the two numbers for the master TCP scales:

set master.tcp.meter.scale.color.unlit.bottom [255 255 255 60 0 0 0 0]
set master.tcp.meter.scale.color.unlit.top [255 255 255 60 0 0 0 0]

Smooth 6 HiDPI v1.6 Release

This is the final (final (final)) release before going to standard resolution development

No change in the Theme Adjuster and fonts from 1.5, you only need the new files from the stash (links follow previews).

I now recommend setting TCP meters to size 10 via Theme Adjuster:

Because...

- Updated 6B alternative TCP design. The coloured end 'cap' and triangle are further in, meaning they work with size 10 meters, which are better for HiDPI/Retina screens. Size 4 was too small.

You also see more of the colour triangle when the TCP is collapsed:

- Peak meters (both MCP and TCP) are slightly brighter as to stand out a bit more. They are the same colour as the M and S buttons for consistency.

- Bypassed sends now match bypassed plugins

- Master TCP stereo/mono button now matches that of the master MCP track.
