Hey folks, just want to say thanks again for the great testing effort !!
One thing I would like to see you good folk play with is the new "parallel" Section/Focus FX handling.
Any FX .zon file with a SelectedTrackNavigator will be Activated by Selected.
Any FX .zon file with a FocusedFXTrackNavigator will be Activated by Focused.
I think this little trick will turn out to be very powerful.
I'm envisioning something like this, with my Console1 setup:
EQ/Compressor/Transient Shaping/Input Drive/Output Drive type things are mapped using Selected and automatically show up on the Console1 -- channel strip style
Others use Focus - I just Pick the open Window with the Mouse and Voila - Reverb/TapeSim/AmpSim/Instrument params at my fingertips.
Nice workflow combo in my books
Would love to see what you come up with your workflow using the new "parallel" system

Hey Geoff, how does this work? Is it automatic? So if I have a track selected it will map all fx, but as soon as I focus an FX window it will only display that one FX?
I didn't get to respond yesterday, but things are looking good over here. Paging works just as you all said it would, my "console" setup is amazing, and everything is in the best shape it's ever been! And by the way, the toggle fx isn't so bad, I can live with it for sure.
Is it ok to ask if we can have the select track feature that also selects on the TCP/arrange?

Here's a new version of the C4 FX Configurator. It includes Geoff's additions to the code and integrates with the new ZoneRawFXFiles and ZoneFXFiles folders introduced in a recent CSI build.
I haven't changed the look of it yet, let's see how the functionality goes Feedback/questions appreciated.

Any FX Zones that look like this respond to the MapSelectedTrackFXToWidgets Action:
Code:
Zone "VST: UAD Fairchild 660 (Universal Audio, Inc.)"
SelectedTrackNavigator
Threshold FXParam Thresh
Character FXParam Output
Drive FXParam Meter
Attack FXParam Headroom
Release FXParam Input
Ratio FXParam "Time Const"
Invert+Compressor FXParam Bypass
Parallel FXParam Wet
ZoneEnd
Zone "VST: UAD Pultec EQP-1A (Universal Audio, Inc.)"
SelectedTrackNavigator
HiGain FXParam "HF Atten"
HiFrequency FXParam "HF Atten Freq"
HiMidGain FXParam "HF Boost"
HiMidFrequency FXParam "High Freq"
HiMidQ FXParam "HF Q"
LoMidGain FXParam "LF Atten"
LoMidFrequency FXParam "Low Freq"
LoGain FXParam "LF Boost"
LoFrequency FXParam "Low Freq"
Invert+Equalizer FXParam Bypass
ZoneEnd
and ones that look like this respond to the MapFocusedTrackFXToWidgets Action:
Code:
Zone "VST: UAD Harrison 32C (Universal Audio, Inc.)"
FocusedFXTrackNavigator
HiCut FXParam HiPass
LoCut FXParam LowPass
HiGain FXParam HiGain
HiFrequency FXParam HiFreq
HiMidGain FXParam HiMidGain
HiMidFrequency FXParam HiMidFreq
LoMidGain FXParam LoMidGain
LoMidFrequency FXParam LoMidFreq
LoGain FXParam LowGain
LoFrequency FXParam LowFreq
Invert+Equalizer FXParam Bypass
ZoneEnd
That's why ToggleFX is important, you will want to turn selected off sometimes, depending on what you are focusing on (pun intended ).

Not quite sure what you mean, you can use any selection method (mouse, button, etc.) and it should select on all the others ?
Am I misunderstanding your question ?

Fantastic work, thanks !
A couple of little ones I saw whilst glancing at the code, and I could be WAY off, these just looked funky:
'Identify presence of additional Zone(s) and write Zone navigation
If Range("C2").Value = 0 Then
C2 seems to be the Username.
Also in the Windows Path section it refers to A1, think that should C2, yes ?
Like I say, I could be way off, that's what I saw at a glance.
As far as the graphics, what you have looks really clean and tight, not even sure the graphics would add that much
Thanks again for such great work !

Post #3583 you confirmed it. Selecting a track on the surface will select on the mcp, but not on the TCP. Build from 6.29 it worked.
The FX mapping sounds great, and sounds like I don't need to have a separate page now. But, it also sounds like I can't have the same FX as both Selected and Focused, correct? Can't have a zon file in the same folder with the same definitions, right?

If you build your channel strip combos as FX Chains in Reaper, you can rename the plugins in the chain.
If you use that name instead of the original plugin name in the .zon file, you can have two different implementations of the same plugin, one that will Focus and one that fits into a combo as Selected. I think

You mean scrolling so that the selected track is visible on the surface ?
That's what #3583 is about, and yes, it is in the list, near the top.

You sneaky sheet shifter
Still is the File path line in the Windows file section right ?
' Set the path to the folder that you want to open.
MyPath = "C:\Users" + Range("A1").Value + "\AppData\Roaming\REAPER\CSI\Zones\ZoneRawFXFi les"
Seems like it should be C2.

Ok, how exactly do I name it?
Currently looks like: "VST: ReaComp (Cockos)"
if I rename the plugin to: ReaComp
Is the new name just: "ReaComp" ?

Ah, ok so then there are two things. It is both scrolling to the track on the surface (if I select with the mouse) AND scrolling to the track on the TCP if I select on the surface. Maybe they are the same issue?

Gotcha, I think they might be at least related.

OK, let's talk ToggleScrollLink.
Suggest the following:
Code:
someButton ToggleScrollLink
This causes CSI to try to place the selected Track on Channel 1, kind of what you might expect.
However, it might not be able to do that if Channel 1 is pinned, so it will take pinned Channels into account, and do the best it can.
@MixMonkey wants to be able to "land" the Selected Track on Channel 17
Code:
someButton ToggleScrollLink 17
As you can see, the optional parameter does the trick.
What do you all think of this approach ?
Got some better ideas/more features desired, etc. ?
As usual all comments/suggestions, et., more than welcomed...

A1 is the user name on the output sheet. It could just as easily be C2 on the input sheet, but it isn't
I did it one way for Windows and the other way for Mac, oops I'll do a bit of rationalisation

Ok I was able to make new names, new files names. Works well on selected track mapping everything.
But, un-toggling the FX button, I don't get anything mapped on focus FX. I changed the default zon (before changing the name) to onfxfocus also.
I just realized I feel like I should have something in my C4.zon that states onfxfocus etc....all I have is trackselection.
Should I have both in the same C4.zon?

I'm not sure what this does exactly, we already have bank tracks by 8 and by 1, plus pinn tracks, and goto track when selected onscreen. How would somebody use it?

Yes you need both if you want to use both.
I think you mean:
Code:
OnTrackSelection MapSelectedTrackFXToWidgets
OnFXFocus MapFocusedTrackFXToWidgets

New build is up.
ToggleScrollLink now should work properly including a target Channel number if you wish.

This makes sure the selected Track is visible on the Surface.
If you select a Track that is not visible somewhere on the Surface, the Surface automatically banks so that the Track is visible on the Surface.
It's goto Track Selected onscreen.

Yes that is neat for sure, thank you.
Edit: did pinning change? is there a new way to pin? Used to be button = Pin, anotherbutton = UnPin.

Your Channel should look something like:
Code:
Zone Channel|1-8
TrackNavigator
DisplayUpper| TrackNameDisplay
DisplayLower| TrackPanDisplay
TrackTouch+DisplayLower| TrackVolumeDisplay
RotaryPush| GoZone PanWidth|
Rotary| TrackPan 0
RecordArm| TrackRecordArm
Solo| TrackSolo
Mute| TrackMute
Select| TrackUniqueSelect
Shift+Select| TrackRangeSelect
Control+Select| TrackSelect
Shift+Control+Select| TogglePin
Fader| TrackVolume
TrackTouch+Fader| TrackVolume
FaderTouch| TrackTouch
ZoneEnd

ToggleScrollLink working here I went with channel 9 in the end, as sends goto 17-24
Could I suggest that when it's engaged , it only shifts the surface when the track is selected on the screen, not the surface. It's a bit disconcerting to have it enabled, select a track on one of the surfaces and have that track go whizzing off to channel 9!

Yeah, seems to me we went round in circles before chasing this only to realize it could never work because selecting a Track on the Surface would always cause Reaper to tell us a Track has been selected and we couldn't tell if Reaper was reporting what the Surface did or what the mouse did.
However, that does trigger and idea...
How 'bout we don't bank if the Track is visible already ?
I'll do some checkin' and thinkin' on that...

Any button you want, of course, as long as it's in Channel with one of those | like you see on Select.
For instance you could use RecordArm| or Shift+RecordArm|, etc., but not a non Channel button like Play or Click, etc.

I think these are the next 2 things to tackle, but I'm willing to be persuaded if anyone has a pressing item.
Code:
Drill Down
Folders
FXMenu
SendsMenu
etc.
Radio Buttons

does a button have to be in the "channel" per se (such as mute, solo, recarm) or can it be any arbitrary button, just listed in that section?

Been trying out the new parallel system and it works very nicely
Still have my ReaStrip FX chain that I made a few pages back, during the reign of the stack, that didn't work too well then but works fine now
I haven't given much thought to this way of working in the past, been mainly concerned with OnFocus, but I can see some great possibilities!

How 'bout we don't bank if the Track is visible already ?
I'll do some checkin' and thinkin' on that...

I think (ages ago ) we had this discussion about tracks moving on the screen when they were selected on the screen. I seem to remember they jumped to the left, which was weird and you mended it.
Anyway, not banking if the track is already visible on the surface(s) is a much better solution

Agreed, this is the way other controller profiles work and something we are used to.
What would be cool is if it reflected the relative position from the screen to the surface. so if I have say 30 tracks onscreen and select track 15, it would reflect in the middle of the surface. Last track would be the last track on the surface (to the right), and so on.

I used my new channel strip last night for a recording session, it was honestly like my dream workflow. Even now the sends follow track selection so as long as it's all toggled everything is there at my fingers for every track: deEss, eq, comp, etc.
Now if only there was a way to make a shortcut to insert an fx chain...

Any button that has an associated Track, so that it knows what Track to Pin/Unpin.
So even Shift+RotaryPush| would work as long as your surface has 8 Rotaries.
