something I actually played myself... (using LABS)
Shocking, huh?
Something I actually played myself, albeit on a keyboard. I say that because one of the sounds used is a guitar, and, as you would imagine, it sounds nothing like a real guitar, but I really like the sound.
And I had to fix some things here and there, cos I ain't no virtuoso.
All of the sounds for this piece are from Spitfire Audio's free sample library called LABS.
No AI.
No Robots.
Just me. And my MIDI keyboard.

Hi Andy.
Maybe not a virtuoso, but what you've done with this guitar is just really nice. It fits very well with the pads..
Great job, not too long
Bye

Fits the waterfall theme of the haiku for sure, with the shimmery background. Sounds like a guitar to me, feels strummed and arpeggiated, classical style. Nice.
As a clicktrack slave: is it free time, or is there still click reference? I always wonder when listening to slower ambient pieces, must be pretty easy to forget when your pad needs to end.

Good question.
Although my project was set to 80BPM I laid down the "guitar" track first, without a click... I just played phrases on my MIDI keyboard for ten minutes or so.
I then spent time examining each phrase/part. Some I ditched. Some I tweaked. But, in essence, I did not quantize anything. And when I say "tweaked," I mean that some sections were not sounding good, timing wise, so I dragged some notes around abit, but with snapped turned off. So I am hoping that I managed to maintain a more "human" feel.
I then added new track for the pad sound and that is recorded to MIDI and left alone. No tweaking at all on this track.
A third track was added to bring a bit of low end in. Again, this was recorded to MIDI and not tweaked.
I used Adaptiverb to help to pad out the sounds a bit. I use that a lot for my ambient stuff.
And then more reverb... Cos I like reverb. Pro-R was my main 'verb, but I also added an instance of Blackhole, too.
I always add my effects to busses and send to them, rather than adding effects to individual tracks.
Thank you for asking
cheers
andy

Andy,
Really liked the piece. I was having a bit of a frazzled day and just listening to this chill, really made me feel mellow and relaxed.
Great stuff.
I've got lots of LABS but haven't used any yet. Hope to soon.
Regards
SR

I probably, no, definitely over-use it but I just can't help it. And not so much as a reverb. I like how I can feed sequences into it and it comes out all drone like.
It's a bit pricey, like many of their plugins, but every now and then it goes on sale. I bought into it at V1.0 and it was on offer for a month or so back then.

Haha! I've not seen that one... You have to apply for a three month license, apparently

I've also got the Peel Guitar, and I can never get it to sound this good. It's all in how you play it, and you've got this down! Great ambient track, very emotive. I'm jealous, and now I have to dig this instrument out and see what I can do with it. This needs a video on YouTube with your other great ambient videos.

Thanks, Dave
I only either upload "live" stuff to my YouTube account, or fractal videos. So anything that isn't live, like this, I need to take time out to create a new fractal video. Not had a chance to do that yet.
cheers

Yes, briefly, without much success to be honest.
I love what comes out of it but I found it hard to get into. I was already well into flame fractal stuff at the time so I took the path of least resistance.
As the great philosopher, Homer (Simpson) once said, "if something is too hard to do, it ain't worth doing."
