If there is something to doubt about IMHO is that people read description at all
And among the few people reading description, people wanting to contribute are even more rare.
I agree that people will not want to learn GitHub. But motivated people will be to learn few things in order to help
I mean there isn't even code to learn, there is just an Edit button and a Publish to click ! ^^

Simplest way (and actually the one currently used) is ton contact the author on forum. Which works just fine.
