Hello Hopi, I'm in the thick of it this weekend, can I get back to you in the week? I did a mechanism-blanked-out version of the bigger meter picture and I'd like to post that and explain it.

Hopefully will have email and hosting back up by then, too.

Edit: I think the needle and countereight are connected to the coil frame under the pivot, but the spring is above it (probably directly connected to the needle or counterweight).
