I think part of the problem when comparing workflow's and ways of doing things in daw x vs. daw y is in how the person describing it uses it. Reaper and SX have lots in common and the more I play with Reaper the more I see that.
Reaper does many things better than SX. Handling VSTI's (in general multi or not) isn't one of those things in my experience.
YMMV.
