@babag Which audio backend are you using Jack? Alsa ? I'm presuming you wont be using Pulseaudio.
Can you paste the terminal output when you run Reaper please, it might give some insight to the problem. I am quite new to Reaper but not Linux Audio in general.
Another question have you tried running Reaper from the extracted folder itself and not as a portable install? [[ EDIT I now understand this is how the portable install works oooops ]]
Also maybe give some info on your graphics card etc. thanks.
I was having hangs today with Reaper while messing with my Nvidia GPU/Intel internal settings | my kernel and system are pretty much hacked for realtime audio, but probably not entirely safe from system lockups |. Weirdly the hang would happen on launch if i was context clicking the Reaper icon on the sidebar to see if ' Launch using dedicated graphics card ' was an option.
And it's usually not a good idea to run a userspace program as root, this can make config files unwritable when running the program as a normal user.
