Not bothering to learn the instrument then trying to do it entirely during the recording really isn't the brightest way of doing things. I just spent hours to do a simple, serviceable harpsichord bit by hand, coz I forgot I completely can't keyboards (but still don't want programmed ones). I feel like I make everything with sheer stubornness and force of will, because skill sure isn't there. Yesterdays guitar track took a couple dozen tries too. I sort of hate my hobby.
