Does that mean the faders and trans are not on the same port,
The master doesn't work, but if I press the bank left button, the faders change , one stays up, and that one works the master.
That's because the surfaces named Mix and Control are actually Avid Artist series physical surfaces in Mackie Control mode, so the transport is on the Control, a separate device, that's why the number strangeness.

Don't worry too much about this, it will all clear up when real external maps are implemented.

The pan should show on the rings and should change styles when the top is pushed and you have a track that is set to stereo pan.

i would do as fundorin suggested, it's pretty much a standard style for matrix type surfaces.

So map the rotaries, push top switches, and displays thusly:

// push top switches
A1Switch
A2Switch
A3Switch
A4Switch
A5Switch
A6Switch
A7Switch
A8Switch
...
D8Switch

// rotaries
A1Rotary
...
D8Rotary

// displays
A1Display
...
D8Display

I think if we come up with very simple naming conventions this whole idea will work quite well.
