Tons of Empty Takes?
I don't know what changed, but lately when I record takes in my usual way, I get a ton of extra takes that are all empty.
Here's what happens: When I want to write a new part, I loop the whole song and record while I come up with ideas. Then I loop individual sections to refine my ideas for that section. But for some reason (started recently) when I do this, empty takes are added to the entire track and not just the section I'm working on even though it's splitting the item when I start adding takes.
The total number of takes in each section is the same, so it's like Reaper is trying to make sure every take is the full length of the track. It's a problem for me because I do not use take lanes, so I'm switching through 90 takes when there are only 5 with anything on them... In fact, rn I'm trying to turn on take lanes and that doesn't even do anything, so I think something very buggy is going on with takes.
