This helps, as I have a Novation Launchpad Mini that I was planning on experimenting with. This might let me use it as a big array of buttons with FB lights. Is it limited to one message for the lights, or can it be a bit more complex? ie. multiple messages so that I could turn on multiple lights/vary the colour/etc?

Yeah, that was my realisation from the earlier message. Controllers should be mostly dumb and do what they are told by CSI.
