I've personally never delved very much into public reverb IRs. Developing a passing familiarity with some of the better ones would be nice.

I would really enjoy using free VSTs personally, as I have a small collection of them at this point. However, there is a large potential issue of compatibility, especially cross platform. So I'm mixed on free VST usage.

That said, a good question to ask is ... how much do each of us value opening up others' sessions for analysis? I'm too new to this competition to really say.
