If literally all of the time constants are 0, then it's sample-for-sample gating, which is basically just about the harshest version of crossover distortion you can find. It can work for noise reduction on signals that can stand that distortion, and can be interesting effect in it's own right, but yes it'll distort. I'm not completely sure why you're using it here, but if you don't want distortion, you need to dial in those time controls so that there is some averaging and smoothing of the gate action.
