Maybe already mentioned, but thought I would throw this one in the mix.

Set up a MIDI device with 'enable input for control messages' checked that has both faders/knobs and BUTTONS. Using buttons basically gives you an instant switch from 0-127 with nothing in the middle.... which works great for 'on/off' type of situations (and a TON of other fun stuff.... like panning hard left then hard right with zero middle ground on the fly.

I even mapped a button to the 'threshold' for the 'transient detection settings' preference. If you also have 'treat media item edges as transients' checked, then you basically get an on/off switch for tabbing to transients. I'm coming from PT (12+ years) and I use this feature ALL the time. In PT I would normally have 'tab to transients' off, so I can quickly move around various items/regions simply by tabbing. Then if I need to edit some transient heavy material, switch it on.

Works perfectly in Reaper.
