When you close Reaper with Reason as a Rewire slave, Reaper will stop the Reason process as well. I think it already works like expected.

Yes, closing Reaper makes Reason close as well.
But if you haven't saved your work in Reason before quitting, a window like "do you wanna save changes" will appear and wait for your answer.
Reaper will close, so Reason will be open alone, so it causes a Rewire crash.
Well if you know the Rewire protocol, you know what to do (and not to do), but I think it could be better (and safier) if Reaper includes this behaviour.

You suggest Reaper to wait for the rewire client to finish?
I haven't had any issues with reason being open after reaper exited.
Low prio if you ask me.

Yes :) That is what I suggest.
For example, Cubase/Nuendo & Live prevent you from quitting the program if Reason is open (it says to close Reason -or another Rewire slave- first).
You don't have the problem, even in the case I told?
> if you haven't saved your work in Reason before quitting Reaper, when you quit (Reaper) a window like "do you wanna save changes" will appear (in Reason)and wait for your answer.
Reaper will close, so Reason will be open alone, so it causes a Rewire crash.
I agree this is not high priority because when the issue is known, you can avoid it easily. But I wanted to tell about it, because it is anyway an issue about stability.

i hadn't used Reason in Reaper 3 until recently, but there have been several times when Reason would remain open after exiting Reaper in only the few times i've used it.
so i'll vote yes t this feature request. either that, or fix the problem.
i've also had Reaper give me an error when opening a project with a Reason instance, saying "Engine not responding. Please check your ReWire host". i then have to remove the Reason instance, and reinsert it.

Although it never revealed itself as a problem to me, I do notice that even after I close Reason (after the reaper.exe process already terminated), reason.exe remains running --> not good.

I've noticed this problem as well.
It could be a good improvement even if it's not a priority for the moment...
