Don't worry, if you don't mind, I can do that for you:

"Dragging and dropping samples from Media Explorer directly onto the ME keyboard automagically opens and assigns a Reasamplomatic5k instance."

The idea is to drag an audio file on to the piano bars of the midi editor, and by doing so, instantiating an instance of ReaSamplomatic that will then play the audio file when the note you dropped the audio file on is played.

Really nice idea! Ideally some way to set a range rather then just single note using this same idea would be great too!

AFAIK there's currently nothing going on if you drag an audio item to the piano roll, so, rockin!

i say no to that idea
it doesn't make sense to me,

but

i think the samplomatic it self should have its own keyboard

that you can drop samples on its keys,
set note start/end

and test/play with its keyboard.

actually, i think every fx window should have built in keyboard,
for sound testing.

The Virtual MIDI Keyboard is fine for most stuff but for quick sample previewing - not so :(

would be even cooler to have an option for "set default plugin to add when sample is dragged to the keyboard"

This way we can decide to use also eventually other alternatives than Samplomatic. (dunno if this behaviour is implementable...)

But then you wouldn't want a new instance of Kontakt, Sampletank & others for each sample added right? Just wondering which others would work like SamplOmatic5000?

For a start being a Cockos plug it's easy to tell it how to map that note whereas it wouldn't be possible to tell other plugs about the mapping

That's why i said "if implementable"... anyway i think maybe is better stick to this idea of only Samplomatic for this feature... (maybe with some enhancements like pitch envelope, invert phase, ADSR, remove DC offset and backward playing... uhm, ReaSamplomatic30000!)
