Crash when hitting Caps Lock and Tab together
Bug report courtesy of my 11 month old daughter

My daughter happened upon this strange one this morning. She crawled over, pulled herself up and hit the left side of the keyboard - instant Reaper crash. 10 mins later she did the same thing and Reaper crashed again. I've tested this on both my PCs and can reproduce it every time.

- Reaper blank project
- Double-click rx2 loop using Media Explorer to import.
- Select imported item
- Press CAPS LOCK and TAB together (sometimes takes 2 presses).

2 different event log entries one per crash - using Windows 7.

Tried every button on the left side of the keyboard, even all at one, didn't crash.

Seems I can't repro on XP, Vista crashed only after several import->select->hit capslock/tab cycles in NT.DLL 0x000675ff (no 2nd entry from reaper_rex.dll).

I can't reproduce on W7. Is it only with particular RX2 files? Could you post one?

Thanks, fixing (though the fix might not make it into 3.15).

The capslock key is not needed, the crash comes when tabbing (tab to transient) through a stereo REX item that was imported as a single item, meaning imported by double-clicking in the media explorer, rather than one that was imported as slices, meaning imported by dragging into the project.

It's not the intended behavior that the REX item is imported as a single item when double-clicking in the media explorer, so that needs fixing as well.

OK, sorry 'bout the red herring with Caps Lock...

I think that must make Florence the youngest Reaper bug tester?

Indeed.

By the way do you live in a graveyard? Or is that a different Bod.

Not sure I understand the reference. I've been called Bod since my early teens - apparently I looked like this guy (http://www.toonhound.com/bod.htm). I've never been bald (though I'm heading that way) and never worn a dress... :/

Edit: Just googled - Neil Gaiman right? Will check that out..

This bug should be fixed in 3.15, care to check?

Yep, all works without issue. Thanks and good work.

Regarding the double-click import method for .RX2 files, I know you say that the behaviour isn't intended but would it be possible to implement this officially and allow import at project tempo?

You mean to import REX as a single item rather than as slices pinned to beat locations? You can achieve this now by importing the REX slices (by dragging the REX file into the project) and immediately gluing, but you then lose the feature that the imported slices will continue to adjust to any new changes in the project tempo.

We could add a preference to glue REX slices on import, but that's outside the scope of this bug ticket -- feel free to open a thread in the forum about it.
