Go to MIDI Devices. Double-click a MIDI input device to configure it. These things happen:

- You can type in an alias name and click ok and you will have wasted your time, the name you typed is gone because the alias checkbox was not ticked.

fix: make textbox INACTIVE if alias is not ticked.... and/or auto-tick the checkbox if the user starts typing in the textbox.

- You can type an alias name and select the alias checkbox and hit ok. All seems to go well now. Now double-click the device again. The alias checkbox is suddenly unticked. If you hit OK to close the window again, you lose your alias name. If you tick the alias checkbox manually and hit ok, you lose your alias name anyway just for fun.
