Also check this thread: http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=38201

Would you know how to find and edit your reaper.ini file with a text editor?

If you can find it, temporarily rename it to something else (e.g. reaper_.ini) when Reaper is not running. Then run Reaper (a new reaper.ini will be created with default settings) and see if it still crashes.

there's no reaper.ini in my reaper folder- reaper-install.ini but renaming that did nothing :(

did this through cmd and it didn't work,

I'm running Windows Vista 64 but the 32 bit version of reaper if that helps at all.

Reaper.ini is in your Reaper data folder, it's C:\Documents and Settings\DarkStar\Application Data\REAPER here (in XP)

acan, try this procedure...

Open an explorer window, double-click on the title to edit the path. Type: %appdata% as the path and hit enter. It will take you to a location with folders for various applications. Find Reaper folder and get in. Reaper.ini should be in there.

This is the exact same crash as http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=38201.

The fault address shows that the crash occurs while initializing waveout audio. Had you recently updated or changed the driver for the onboard sound, or for the external audio device, or hooked up a new device?

ana, if you can dig into the reaper.ini with a text editor, perhaps you can solve your problem by removing just the [audioconfig] settings. You will have all your other settings intact.

see the thread I mentioned above: http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=38201

In short:
- Open your reaper.ini in a text editor (e.g. notepad). Use the problematic reaper.ini that you renamed, that had all your settings.
- Find the [audioconfig] line and start selecting from that all the way down till you find the next [xxxxx] entry (and stop selecting one line before. Delete these entries and save.
- Rename the file to reaper.ini if you haven't already, and launch Reaper.

What this does is delete the audio device settings only and let reaper reset them on next start.

Nope haven't changed anything, it all of a sudden just decided to start crashing every time I tried to load it :S
