buili in virtual keyboard in each fx window
the standard virtual midi kb is not good solution

because:

1. you have to arm each track, and set its record monitor on. (though it can
be done automaticly, it can cause a mess)

2. if i route some track to others, when i want to test only this track,
i can't, beacuse all the midi notes will be routed to the other tracks,
and i will hear sound from all that tracks together,
and not from the only track i want to test/play.

3. if i set , all keys to virtual midi kb,
i can't use the keyboard to anything, but the playing,
and i can set/modify things i need.

so my suggestion is simply, (yes like fl)
built in keyboard on each fx window
and even on each floating fx itself,

so for example, if you have, some samplomatics, on one fx , (chain)

and i make them float,

it would be much better, if each of this floating fx plus the main fx window, would have virtual kb,

(though i can be satisfied with vitual keyboad on the main fx window).

i think this is very easly to implement,

and would be a great must have, usefull feature.

it took me a very long time (more than a month i think), to find how to play midi notes, with the VKB,
(arm , route, and all that stuff)

with this FR, we don't need, all these.

so this is good for new and old users.

think of it.

Also optional via preferences, right?

if you mean to show/hide it, the best is with a local close button,
that's why i showed the VKBs with their close button.

EDIT: but yes, a default settings in the preference, needed too.

Very useful (I made a similar/duplicate FR some time ago but I prefer this one because of the mockups).

I just want the keyboard to be part of the panel, not separate, not floating. And hideable/optional.

It would take small 'arrowy' UI widgets to show/hide panels and subpanels throughout the Reaper interface to have a lot more functionality that does not get in the way if you don't need it.

this feature would be great.

i think a default option choice (for those who dont want it) as well as a way to close/open the virtual keyboard from the fx window would make this a good addition for alot of people.

also a way to determine if computer keyboard activity goes to the virtual keyboard or to reaper (there is an action to do this already but maybe having an optional button on the side of the virtual keyboard would be nice as well).

last thing, i think this should obviously be restricted to plugins that receive midi. i dont think anyone needs a useless virtual keyboard opening up on every random eq, compressor, or gate that they select.

good fr overall. i hope it eventually gets implented.

from my thread:
Quote:
what is it useful for?

Fast change the center key of the vsti/sampler instead of entering each midi item in order to change the center key.

Fast preview (for fasst workflow) when degining sounds using the keyboards instead of moving the hand to a midi controller.

Only the selected Chain will be used by the virtual midi controller and only when it's on top of all the other windows.

it could look like this:

I think a VK for the chain (toggle-able) would be neat, but NOT a VK per effect.

so you don't allow the user to float his synth and play with it :)

I think that there should be a show/hide VK button per Chainer and per VST(i) individually.

when focus on the vsti + VK shown for this vsti, all keyboards will be sent to it.

when focus on the chainer + VK shown for it, all keyboard will be sent to it.

*All keyboards = all the the keys that the VK needs...Q-]

nuh...

non of these do the job because you can't tweak the knobs and test them at the same time...
you have to set the VK in focus to play...

this is why the VK need to be built in..

mm i didn't mean as relate to this FR at all,
only as relate to DD suggest.

another reason for built-in

JS don't get pc keyboards, so you can play with them
only with the mouse.
