Autobackup doesn't save if project hasn't been saved yet
If you check "Save to timestamped file in project directory" but you haven't saved yet, then Reaper just skips saving altogether -> no backups unless you saved at least once.

See above.

I have the same problem. Clearly a bug, should be fixed.

Sorry for the trouble! Please post bugs/help requests in the appropriate forums first. This is the issue tracker, a database for confirmed/confirmable REAPER bugs and well-discussed feature requests. Alas we can't simply move things between the tracker and the forum. If you still have this issue, can you repost this in the forum for further investigation, please? Thanks!

This is just the way it works, you need to save the project once in order to give it a unique name, so the TS backup function knows how to save the project. While this could certainly have some improvement (name unsaved projects with "unsaved_project_43892" or something), this is technically not a bug (not implemented = not malfunctioning code), making that a feature request. Just make it a habit to save projects early, which is needed to organize your projects (using the "create subdirectory" function) in REAPER anyway.
