Not play with two soundcards RME Multiface II

Windows XP Home SP3 Russian
Reaper 2.x-3.x

Soundcard:

RME Multiface II + PCI-card (1)
RME Multiface II + PCI-card (2)
3.07.9 driver

CPU Q6600 2.4Ghz
RAM 4 Gb

I chose in the Audio-Device-(ASIO HammerfalI DSP)output range 1-36 (all the outputs of two cards). My project is playing. If I close Reaper and then open, the project does not play. As if I pressed the pause. If I do restart windows, I can play back the project. If I close the project, it will not play again when re-opening.

If I choose the output range 1-18 (outputs only one card) - no problems.

If you select the whole range (both cards) and reboot, does Reaper work normally with all inputs available, even after closing and reopening Reaper?

No. If I close Reaper, the project no longer plays.
I must restart the computer each time after the closing Reaper.
Reper plays once before closing and rebooting.

Also...

This problem does not appear in the Cubase AI4 and Sound Forge 9.

I know this is a hassle, but would you be able to attach two copies of your reaper.ini file here? One copied after rebooting but *before* Reaper is open and running properly with both cards, and one copied after Reaper has closed.

On XP reaper.ini is in Documents and Settings/<username>/Application Data/REAPER. On Vista/W7 reaper.ini is in users/<username>/AppData/Roaming/REAPER.

I attach a file, but they are the same.
I noticed a new behavior program:

I opened the Reaper after the restart. Pressing play.
All played well. After I copied the ini-file, I can no longer play the project.
But I did not close the project. It was opened.

I have done several reboots.
If I copied ini-file, when opened Reaper, I could not play the project again.

I think pipelineaudio uses a dual RME setup without any trouble. Are you sure you have the latest firmware and drivers (I think firmware and drivers need to be updated separately)?

Anyone else with two RME cards having trouble? We may have to mark this "can't reproduce."

This is not a problem Reaper. I installed Windows XP only, Reaper only and the RME driver only today. The problems are no more! Excuse me for the introduction of all the confusion. Remove please this message. I think it was a conflict with another program.

The problem appears after installing the driver ATI (Catalyst 9.5, card ATI HD 3800)

Are you installing the full driver package? AFAIK the ATi "CCC" installed with the driver caused various problems here and there in the past (not audio related though). You can install the driver without the CCC.

Thanks for the hint. I installed ATI driver only, but the problem persists. The problem was introduced in Cubase AI4 also (project plays, but no sound). I installed the old driver, RME 2.94 (6) and the problem disappeared. I will report on this issue RME representative in Russia.
