ReaEQ Gain envelope drawing bugs
-> add ReaEQ
-> tweak the "Gain" of a band
-> add "Gain" as track envelope
=> strange-envelope.png
You see, the zero crossing line causes envelope drawing with different angle!? Also when using the "Linear" points, REAPER is drawing white vertical lines at the "zero crossings"!? FIXED (3.07pre5)

Dstruct, I mention the "joint" peculiarity here:
http://forum.cockos.com/showpost.php...7&postcount=28
(I give the impression that the joints appear for all ReaEQ envs, but it's only for band gain.)
I'm *sure* there was an earlier mention of it, but I can't find it! I've got some memory of schwa saying that it *wasn't* a bug. The vertical white lines would seem to support this.

Let's see. But this "knee" is irritating and also breaking antialiasing of the envelope. Looks horrible IMO. Why is only ReaEQ having this issue?

This has been going on for ages...it is really time that it is fixed. Maybe gain is using a logarithmic gain stage instead of a linear gain stage?
I quickly compared it's staging to Wet and Dry of ReaComp and they are not the same. Maybe if they changed whatever it is in the code to be more like the gain staging in ReaComp Wet/Dry faders than it would finally be fixed.

@ labyrinth: that sounds like the kind of explanation one of the devs would've provided first time round (though not necessarily with mention of changing anything).

Only the white line is a bug. The fact that the envelope is not symmetrical is by design, ReaEQ exports this parameter assymetrically so that zero gain is in the middle of the envelope. The fact that the envelope isn't antialiased when it passes through the center line is a live-with-it.

Ok, that's what I thought. Just those white vertical line that was confusing me I guess ...
Why not set it to "Fix Coming Soon" instead of "Live With It"?

It isn't a bug that it breaks the AA?

it's not only ReaEQ. it happens with the Master Play Rate envelope as well.

üAlso, if there is an linearly ascending envelope line, the values displayed by the envelope lane fader don't correspond to the values represented by the envelope itself in the section below the "knee" (actually the fader seems to follow a virtual, correctly drawn line). Once the envelope line crosses the white line, both values come together again.
Edit: actually the 2 values are still different after the middle line is crossed.

Bug or not, there should definitely something be done about this. What looks "odd" with ReaEQ is exaggerated to the extreme with the Output Wet envelope of JS:Stillwell/delay_pong.
This can't be the right way to present these envelopes. http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.p...913#post349913
Here's a pic showing the same envelope on different parameters. delay_pong is the second from the bottom:
